4th Grade Lesson

This lesson plan was designed using the Gradual Release Model based on the PA Standards Aligned System 4th Grade English Language Arts standards. Below is my lesson plan which outlines materials, standards, accommodations, learning objectives, and instructional breakdown using the Gradual Release Model.

Activity: Squishmallow Yourself

Knowing the students on a personal level is important because it allows you to see them a whole person. This activity allows the students to use their creativity skills and have fun by making themselves as a Squishmallow and write about it. This also allows myself to learn more about them! Historical Fiction Writing Unit:
Ruby Bridges Diary Entry

Creating objectives based on skills to be mastered is the best way to ensure you are meeting the standard criteria. Creating standards based learning objectives/outcomes is crucial to ensuring your students are learning all necessary grade level skills and information. Below is a writing lesson where the students were writing a Historical Fiction Diary Entry from the perspective of Ruby Bridges and her first day at an all-white public school.

Using "Edmentum" for Independent
Math Practice

Using resources effectively is crucial to a successful learning environment. CDSD has access to the online program "Edmentum" which can be used for extra practice in both Mathematics and Reading based on students individual level. During each math unit, an "Edmentum" assignment was assigned for the students to complete based on what we were learning. It tailors it to their needs and meets them at their individual level.

Creating cohesive unit plans is crucial for moving between days and transferring skills between concepts.
Attached below is one of the many mathematics unit plans I wrote for my 4th grade student teaching placement based off the "Go Math!" curriculum. You will find assessments, instructional breakdowns, accommodations, and activities being done for practice. The Gradual Release Model of teaching was used for this unit.

Assessments

Using PA Standards Aligned System (PASAS) Assessment Creator Tool

It is important to make sure your assessment and instruction aligns with state grade level standards. By using the assessment creator on the PASAS website, you are able to select specific standards and Eligible Content to create standards aligned assessments. It also uses PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) friendly language to familiarize students with the language and format used on the assessment. Attached below is an assessment I created for Progressive Verb Tenses using the PASAS assessment creator questions.
